I guess you could say that’s one way to store rice and beans. I just dumped mine into gallon wine jugs with the metal caps. I kept shaking it down and adding more rice (or beans) until no more would fit. Put the cap on and put it away. That was about 9 years ago. Still as good today as when I stored them. I don’t know if my method is air tight, or in a vacuum, but it’s probably fairly close. I’ve only had bug problems with items not in the jars.

And the part about vacuum sealing Oreo cookies to keep them fresh for 2 to 3 years. They’re Oreos, if you do nothing they’ll stay fresh for 2 or 3 years.
