bank accounts raided by (greek) IRS
« on: October 19, 2013, 02:07:47 PM »
I went to pay my credit card yesterday and discovered that people were leaving the bank very pissed off. Turns out that their accounts had been raided, if they owed any back taxes. People will be massively withdrawing the little money they have left next week. Let's see how this drama plays out. The banking system here is not private any more (bail ins, banking holidays etc). It's run by the ECB/EU/IMF troika directives, and if it collapses it might create a chain reaction. At the same time the IMF is proposing a 10% tax/levy/theft on all EU bank accounts (probably Southern European member states wil get the shaft). Ain't life grand  ???

If you could keep us up dated as to what's going on, give us a man on the street perspective, that would be great. It might even help some people wake up as to what's going on around them.

I didn't think that many people would have still been using banks after what happened in Cyprus.

True, but they have to get paid somehow at the end of the month...
