US ATM Withdrawal Limit Change?
« on: January 04, 2016, 11:18:49 PM »
Ok, so I've been going to the same ATM for quite some time now and been able to withdraw $500 cash. Today I get "Transaction Denied". So I did an account balance check; plenty of money in there. I then attempt to pull out $400; success.

I'm going to try another bank tomorrow, maybe a credit union and see if the results are the same.

Of course my issues where at a Chase bank...

More stringent monetary controls to keep people from accessing their cash. 400 is the ATM limit, go inside and ask if there is a limit to what you can withdrawal inside the bank. You are either going to get the amount you demand or you're going to get a police escort out of the bank.

Hence why you shouldn't really use banks.  Cash your check.  Then the government can't spy on you and see and track everything you buy and everywhere you go by your checks and debit card.  Have savings?  Most of your wealth should be in precious metals and real estate anyway.  I've been bank free my whole life.  I don't understand why ANYONE would willingly use a bank.  Maybe back when they were paying 14% interest, but why now?  You actually have to PAY so they can gamble with your money.  It's lunacy.

The limits are based on Your bank's set limit against your card and/or the ATM's limit.

Reason is ATM's are not Reserve Banks, they can't just Print money they have to be refilled.  ;)

Dear friends,

If your bank is treating you like crap, get a new bank, one that will cooperate with you for anything reasonable. Chase had cancelled my line of credit, so I just went to Wells Fargo and applied for credit and they let me have full access to my credit limit with no fuss. And, if I want a cash withdraw, any amount, it's no problem and I have no hassles. I like their services and they're very friendly, but they are an expensive bank with their fees and things. For savings, I go to other banks which will  have a better interest rate.

Remember there is always competition. And, you can choose a credit union. I have had bad customer service on anything financial with such a credit union.  Again, if Chase is treating you like crap and won't let you withdraw in cash or accept cash without problems. Get a new bank!

I just wanted to come back and give an update: Chase is no longer allowing me to take $500 out of my account at another bank. I can still go to Wells Fargo and local credit unions and take $500 out at a time. So now I use my local credit union.

My bank is USAA with no branches to go into.

Well Chase just lost out on my ATM fees, good!
