CNN has lost nearly two-thirds of its viewership since 2016 amid growing fears network is circling the drain

CNN has lost nearly two-thirds of its primetime viewers over the past decade, figures show.

The decrease, from roughly 1.3 million in 2016 to 553,000 now, is fueling rumors of a possible network sale – something CNN’s up-for-grabs parent company has vehemently denied.

The results recorded this month by Nielsen are actually an improvement from January, when stars like Jake Tapper, Anderson Cooper, Erin Burnett, and Kaitlan Collins only secured 488,000 sets of eyes.

The network’s daytime lineup has seen a similar decline as hosts such as Wolf Blitzer failed to move the needle, dropping from 752,000 to 433,000.

When compared to the same part of the year in 2021, the drops were even more pronounced – 71 percent for primetime and 73 percent during the day.

  • Since 2004, the Social Security Administration has provided a simple process to help States with verifying voter applications. It’s called the HAVV System. States send in the name, DOB, and last four digits of the voter’s SSN. The SSA then notifies the State if that person is deceased, alive, matches SSA records, or No Match Found!
  • A whopping 13% of all HAVV verifications processed in 2025 came back as NO MATCH. That’s 318,217 of the 2.37 million submitted. Since 2011, an astounding 28.8% of all HAVV submissions have come back as NO MATCH. For the past 15 years, the federal government (SSA) has been unable to match 28.1 million voter submissions from States, to the information in its comprehensive computer systems. The Feds have every right to know what garbage is being processed at the State level for our Federal elections.
  • These alarming percentages most certainly are justification for the DOJ to have access to any State’s voter rolls, including the voter’s full SSN. Yet, activist Judges in MI, OR, and CA tossed out the DOJ cases for voter rolls. The HAVV program was created to process new voters who can’t provide a valid Driver’s License during registration.
  • This amount of “Non Matches” is why passing the SAVE Act, which requires voter ID, is simply imperative.

The House passed the SAVE America Act (S. 1383) on February 11, 2026.  It does not include Rep. Nancy Mace’s amendment, which was submitted but not adopted during consideration.  Her amendment would have revised the effective date for the bill’s photo ID requirements to apply to federal elections held on or after November 1, 2026 (rather than 2027 or later in the base bill text).

In the version that passed:

  • The citizenship proof requirements for voter registration take effect upon enactment and apply to applications submitted on or after that date.
     
  • The photo ID requirements apply to federal elections held in 2027 or any succeeding year.

Yes, if the SAVE America Act (S. 1383, as amended and passed by the House) becomes law before the 2026 midterm elections, parts of it could apply.

  • The provisions requiring documentary proof of U.S. citizenship for voter registration would take effect immediately upon enactment and apply to any registration applications submitted on or after that date. This could impact new voter registrations or updates leading up to the November 2026 elections, potentially requiring states to verify citizenship for those applications and remove non-citizens from voter rolls.
  • However, the photo ID requirements for in-person voting and absentee ballots would only apply to federal elections held in 2027 or later.

 I’m starting to think that if the SAVE America Act passes, the Democrat rebellion/insurrection will reach a new level. They aren’t going to roll over and submit. They are going to bite and claw to the very end. They will have a backup plan.

They will start by convincing a rogue federal judge to issue a nationwide injunction, which will eventually be overturned on appeal. Next will come the obstruction tactics of which you speak. They will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into compliance.

1. The country is split roughly 45/45/10 between Democrats, Republicans and “independents.” Democrats get a say. You might hate them. You might think they are bent on destroying America (they are). But they get a say, they get a vote and their ideas and desires cannot be totally ignored unless you like being a perpetual minority party.

2. “Independents” matter. Personally, I think so-called “independents” are people without a moral compass, but they must be dealt with no matter what. When a politician swings too far to the Right or to the Left, that politician loses because independents go the other way. As a result, ALL politicians must to some extent stay near the middle of the Overton Window, or they are out of office.

3. Remember the “separation of powers” class in high school? The United States’ government is DESIGNED to make it hard for any single branch (Executive, Legislative, Judicial) to bulldoze its way through to totally achieving its goals. Yes, this makes it very hard for President Trump to achieve his MAGA agenda. Don’t forget, however, that the same rules applied when President Applesauce was trying to push his America-hating, open borders, Marxist agenda. We WANT each branch to be a check on the others. It’s frustrating when your party controls a branch (or branches), but it also saves you from abject tyranny when your party does NOT control those branches. Policy entropy is by DESIGN. It’s how the Founders wanted it, and it has saved us from tyranny on so many occasions. Deal with it.

4. Congress and the federal judiciary have rules and practices that often hamstring a President in pushing his agenda through. Those rules are not part of the Constitution, but they are legal nonetheless. Changing those rules is hard and must be done within the scope of Rules #1, #2 and #3. Don’t like it? Want to change it? I feel ya. But those things simply cannot be done away with a snap of the fingers. They are an immutable reality, and the fact that you feel bad over these rules does not change them. Change is glacial.

5. Another thing that moves glacially is changes in public policy. Nothing happens overnight. It is a long, hard slog where incremental improvements are all an intelligent voter can realistically expect. It’s like a football team moving the ball down the field. 4 yard runs and a cloud of dust may feel unsatisfying, but ultimately they lead to a touchdown. I know, I know, “WHAT ABOUT OBAMACARE?” Even that was a glacial move

Many of you throw up your hands and walk away in disgust over what I am saying. Guess what? You are surrendering the field to your opponents.

Work vigorously within the unchangeable parameters of the system to achieve your goals.
