Cold Weather-Related Deaths Soar Despite ‘Global Warming’ — Doubled Over Past 20 Years

  • Despite the supposedly catastrophic threat of global warming, cold weather-related deaths across the United States are on the rise.
  • According to a study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), the number of Americans who have died from the cold has doubled between the period of 1999 to 2022.
  • Dr. Rishi Wadhera, an associate professor of health policy and management at Harvard University, and his team conducted a study revealing the need for “public health interventions to improve access to warming centers and indoor heating for vulnerable populations.”
  • The research analyzed U.S. death certificates for over 63.5 million Americans who died between 1999 and 2022.
  • During that time, exposure to cold temperatures was identified as a direct or contributing factor in 0.06% of deaths.
  • The study found that the rate of cold-related deaths more than doubled over the 23-year period, increasing from 0.44 deaths per 100,000 people in 1999 to 0.92 deaths per 100,000 in 2022.
  • This amounts to an annual rise of 3.4% in cold-related mortality.

US holiday retail sales come in above forecast, Mastercard says

  • (Reuters) – U.S. retail sales rose 3.8% between Nov. 1 and Dec. 24, as customers turned to last minute shopping due to intense holiday season promotions, a Mastercard report showed on Thursday.
  • The jump in sales was higher than a 3.2% rise forecast by Mastercard in September and well above a 3.1% increase from a year earlier, with the last five days of the season accounting for 10% of all holiday spending.
  • Mastercard SpendingPulse measures in-store and online retail sales across all forms of payment. It excludes automotive sales.

Russia Launches Christmas Assault On Ukraine, Targeting Power Grid  

  • Russia unleashed a massive aerial attack using missiles and drones on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Bloomberg cited Ukraine’s power grid operator, Ukrenergo, as saying the attack left 500,000 customers in the Kharkiv region without heating, while blackouts were triggered in parts of Kyiv and elsewhere.

  • Russia’s Defence Ministry confirmed the Christmas Day aerial strike on Ukraine as a “massive” one and said energy infrastructure near Kyiv’s “military-industrial complex” was targeted.

Azerbaijan Airlines Flight Reportedly Hit By Russian Missile On Christmas Day 

  •   Russian surface-to-air missile hit Azerbaijan Airlines Flight J28243, ultimately causing the plane to crash during an emergency landing attempt in the Kazakhstani city of Aktau shortly thereafter.

A Russian SAM was fired at the Embraer ERJ-190 during a drone swarm above Grozny, the capital city of Chechnya, Russia. The SAM detonated near the commercial jet and unleashed a spray formation of shrapnel that damaged the plane’s rear fuselage and flight controls.

To make an objection under the Count Act requires a petition signed by 20 percent of the members of each House. If the objection is sustained by majority vote in each house, the vote is not counted and the number of votes required to be elected is reduced by the number of disqualified votes. If all votes for Trump were not counted, Kamala Harris would be elected president.

The unlikelihood of congressional Republicans doing anything that might elect Harris as president is obvious. But Democrats need to take a stand against Electoral College votes for a person disqualified by the Constitution from holding office unless and until this disability is removed. No less is required by their oath to support and defend the Constitution.
