As stated in his tariff policy, the prime minister will take income from the Canadian side of the tariff equation (countervailing duties) to subsidize the impacted export sector. Just like China and the EU did in ’17, ’18 and ’19, the Canadian government plans to offset the difference to the U.S. consumer by subsidizing the exporter with import tariff income. All of this is done to retain access to USA consumers.
- The final outcome, the U.S. purchaser is back to the original price of $70, only now that same outcome is evident with an invisible $50 tariff.

How Tariffs Will Lower The Cost Of Living
- Critics of President Trump’s trade policy – tariffs, tariffs, and more tariffs – cry that tariffs will cause inflation and make Americans poor. This is false.
- Although there will be a brief period where the market adjusts to the new normal, tariffs will not cause inflation. In fact, tariffs will lower the cost of living in the long run.
- Perhaps the more interesting question to ask is: inflation of what? Consumer goods? Why are these critics not concerned about the inflation of assets like houses or investments that are caused by economic globalism and the trade deficit? Why are the Democrats and Neocons so preoccupied with keeping the cost of disposable products low, when people cannot afford their rent or mortgages?
Fiddling with the grasshoppers
- Contrary to popular belief, tariffs did not raise the cost of goods during President Trump’s first term, and they are not likely to do so the second time around.
- There are a few reasons for this.
- First, a tariff is a tax imposed on imports. For example, a 25% tariff on steel would increase the price of steel coming from Canada or South Korea. However, that same tariff would not apply to steel that was made in America. In this way, tariffs are a completely avoidable tax. If you do not want to pay tariffs, buy American. Simple.
- Not only do tariffs create an incentive for consumers to buy American, but they also create an incentive for foreign producers to lower their costs. If countries like China or Mexico want access to America’s market—which they certainly will—then they will have to find a way to reduce their costs to balance out the tariff. Ultimately, lower production costs will benefit everyone.
- The media laments that tariffs will increase the price of consumer goods. However, they appear blissfully unaware that the current trade paradigm—massive, chronic trade deficits driven by unfair and asymmetrical trade with the rest of the world—also causes inflation of a different kind.

DOGE Deposes US Institute Of Peace Leadership After Failing To Institute Peace
- Officials at the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) called police Monday in a failed effort to block personnel from Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from entering their Washington headquarters.
- Former USIP officials insisted DOGE had no authority to enter the building and remove its staff, claiming the institute operates independently of executive branch control despite operating almost entirely on federal funding. USIP, established by Congress in 1984, claims its mission is to “prevent violent conflicts and broker peace deals abroad,” despite the U.S. having been involved in numerous military interventions, prolonged wars and rising global instability in the decades since.
- “DOGE has broken into our building,” George Moose, USIP’s acting president until his dismissal last week, told reporters Monday. “What has happened here is an illegal takeover by elements of the executive branch of a private non-profit.”
- The confrontation comes after President Donald Trump replaced the institute’s leadership via executive order last week — a directive eliminating the “non-statutory components and functions” of various government entities — and appointed Kenneth Jackson as acting president, who arrived alongside DOGE representatives and law enforcement.
- “The idea began during the Cold War as a modest proposal with $4 million in seed money,” they wrote. “But the organization received government funding year after year essentially because it had been funded the year before — and because it had important allies.”

Chances are, your Social Security number is being used by an illegal immigrant and you don’t even know it. The Treasury Department permits it, because it empowers them to receive more revenue. But they are not incentivized to care about the incidental effects, such as illegal aliens fraudulent benefits.
- HHS permits it, because it grows their scope and scale of influence as they get more financing, get more beneficiaries, and so on. The lack of ground truth, rationalized to help undocumented migrants, is what creates a collusion of decentralized incentives all aimed at growing the power of each individual department in the federal government. But it is not a victimless crime. It directly impacts people who try to file for Social Security Disability and can’t, because someone is working under their number. Or, it causes people to fail background checks.
