  • In 2023, state policymakers changed California’s rooftop solar subsidy programs and weakened the incentive for companies to push rooftop solar by reducing payments to homeowners who sell back excess power the panels generate, according to CalMatters. Those changes negatively affected SunPower’s business, culminating in its bankruptcy filing, according to Bloomberg.

  • “The evidence from that investigation was disposed of in accordance with retention policies,” Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in an email.
  • Guglielmi did not state the specific retention policy, but broadly dismissed as “false” allegations outlined by a trio of sources to RealClearPolitics, which reported that President Biden’s then-Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle wanted to destroy the cocaine but faced internal opposition.
  • Cheatle was “really pissed off” when her request was rebuffed by subordinates who cited protocols requiring that the evidence be retained for seven years, the publication reported.
  • The Secret Service closed its investigation just 11 days after the cocaine was found — without interviewing any potential suspects — giving the impression that the agency wasn’t interested in learning the facts behind the embarrassing incident.

A man was arrested in the United Kingdom in Hampshire for a social media post mocking the transgender flag.

A viral video shows the moment officers showed up at the man’s home to arrest him, with one officer telling him, “Someone has been caused anxiety based on your social media post. And that is why you’re being arrested.”

 

  • The BBC reports the man was arrested for “malicious communications,” and a man who recorded the incident was arrested for allegedly “obstructing an arrest.”
  • Hampshire government provides this handy flyer on their 1984 approach to speech, noting that malicious communication includes:
    • Content grossly offensive, vulgar, outrageous, shameful, shocking, abusive, insulting
    • That is indecent, degrading, humiliating, improper, especially in relation to sexual matters
    • That is of a threatening nature and the threat is believed to be real
    • That is sent using false information that is believed to be false by the sender
    • Sent to cause the person or anyone else distress or anxiety

The flyer is punctuated with the chilling Orwellian reminder that “Malicious communication is a criminal offense, which could result in prosecution and a criminal record.”

A June report from Minnesota’s legislative auditor found that Walz’s administration “failed miserably in its duty to properly oversee millions of federal dollars it administered to nonprofits to feed children.” The report said that Walz’s alleged incompetence “created opportunities for fraud.” Axios reported: “The report highlighted several ways in which the Walz administration failed to rein in the fraud, undercutting the governor’s longstanding claims that his agency staff deserve credit, not criticism, for their efforts to catch and stop it.”
  2. Walz signed legislation to allow minors to get sex-change operations in Minnesota. He signed a bill to require schools to stock period products in boys’ bathrooms.
  3. Walz allegedly failed to anticipate and react to riots in Minneapolis after the death of George Floyd. Even the liberal mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey, slammed Walz’s response to the riots.
  4. Under Walz’s leadership, Minnesota gives free college tuition to illegal immigrants.
  5.  Walz signed a bill into law that will give driver’s licenses to potentially 77,000 eligible illegal aliens.
  6. Walz openly championed socialism last week during a “White Dudes” for Harris event.
  7. Waltz was also a radical member of the House of Representatives, with Heritage Action giving him a lifetime score of 13 percent.

  • The immunity decision had been due Sept. 6, with the sentencing set for Sept. 18. But then Trump’s lawyers asked Judge Juan M. Merchan last week to rule first on their renewed bid to get the judge to step aside from the case.
  • In a letter made public Tuesday, Judge Juan M. Merchan postponed the immunity ruling to Sept. 16 — if it’s still needed after he decides next week whether to recuse himself.
  • Merchan said the Republican presidential nominee is still due in court Sept. 18 for “the imposition of sentence or other proceedings as appropriate.”
