- Trump administration’s all-out war on the Smithsonian National Museum of American History (NMAH) as part of its ongoing efforts to reverse the damage the radical left and its obsession with wokeism have inflicted on American institutions.
- actual historians called the NMAH out, and black conservatives called them out after the White House’s Domestic Policy Council issued a detailed, 162-page PDF report on July 4th documenting the wokeification of the museum. The report accused the Smithsonian of “anti-white,” “illegal alien,” and “transgender activism.” It concluded that there has been “ideological capture at the museum,” something GOP Rep. Brandon Gill (TX-26) helped further expose with precision during a July hearing on the topic, as we also reported.

President Trump Signs Order Extending National Security Emergency Order On Election Integrity to Prevent the Rigging of the 2026 Midterms By Foreign and Domestic Enemies by Executive Order 13848, t
on August 31, 2026, President Trump signed an Executive Order which extended the 2018 Executive Order: “Continuation of the National Emergency with Respect to Foreign Interference in or Undermining Public Confidence in the United States Elections.”
The White House quietly filed in the Federal Register the extension of the National Security Emergency Declaration to preserve election integrity, without the fanfare of a White House Press Office statement. However, fanfare or not, President Trump has invoked the powers of the presidency that are likely to withstand the howls of the Democratic Party and their socialist controllers, boosted by a leftist-controlled media.

- After every U.S. election, the DNI (in consultation with other agencies) has 45 days to assess whether a foreign government or its agents acted with intent to interfere.
- The Treasury Secretary, in consultation with State, Justice, and DHS, can then block property of foreign persons determined to have interfered.
- Additional calibrated sanctions can be recommended against major businesses in a country whose government authorized, directed, or sponsored the interference (financial, defense, energy, tech, transportation sectors).
The November 3, 2026 midterms fall under the existing framework. If foreign governments attempt cyber operations against election systems or covert influence campaigns, the same assessment-and-sanctions process applies after the election. Keeping the emergency in place signals that sanctions remain available. It does not give real-time operational control over voting or prevent attempts; it creates consequences afterward
EO 13848 stays narrowly focused on foreign actors. Domestic election administration, voter-roll maintenance, and ballot-handling rules remain primarily state responsibilities under the Constitution, subject to federal statutes already on the books and whatever survives court review of the 2026 citizenship/mail order.
Mail-in ballot procedures and claims of fraud are being addressed through a different order: EO 14399
If specific mail-in ballots or processes are found to involve fraud (ballots issued to ineligible voters, unlawful use of the mail, etc.), the order’s relevant provisions are:Prioritized investigations and prosecutions
The Attorney General “shall prioritize the investigation and, as appropriate, the prosecution” of:
- State and local officials (or others administering federal elections) who issue federal ballots to people not eligible to vote.
- Individuals and public or private entities that print, produce, ship, or distribute ballots to ineligible voters (or aid and abet that).
Cited statutes include conspiracy against rights (18 U.S.C. 241), voting by aliens (18 U.S.C. 611), false statements/registration (18 U.S.C. 1015, 52 U.S.C. 20511), and related provisions. USPS is directed to coordinate with its Inspector General and DOJ on suspected unlawful use of the mail involving federal election materials (citing mail fraud, 18 U.S.C. 1341, and other statutes).
- DHS (with SSA) is to compile and send states “State Citizenship Lists” of confirmed U.S. citizens 18+ who reside in the state, at least 60 days before federal elections. These are meant to help verify eligibility; listing someone does not automatically register them.
- The Postmaster General was directed to issue rules (proposed within 60 days, final within 120) requiring Official Election Mail markings, unique Intelligent Mail barcodes for tracking, design review, and state notification/submission of intended mail-in recipient lists. USPS is not to transmit mail-in/absentee ballots unless the recipient is on the relevant state-specific enrollment list.
A later USPS final rule implemented much of the mail standards; parts of the EO and rule have faced lawsuits and injunctions. The EO itself creates no new private right of action and is subject to available appropriations and existing law.
