    Episode 2666a – my favorite illustration of the hidden inflation that I have been using for quite a few years:

    1977: Salary: 8798.00
    New Car: 3600.00
    House: 15,100.00

    2015: Salary: 86,000.00
    New Car: 36,000.00
    House: 150,000.00

    At first glance it was an increase of 10x’s over the course of 38 years however, in reality, it was smoke and mirrors to create the illusion of increase using bigger number but no additional purchasing power.
