Political/Rights

Since October 20, 2025, the FAA has maintained a 24/7 Temporary Flight Restriction over Mar-a-Lago that applies whether the president is there or not:

  • 1 nautical mile radius, surface to 2,000 feet.
  • Applies to all aircraft (planes, helicopters, drones, balloons, etc.).
  • This is still in effect (extended through at least October 2027) and the FAA has proposed making a similar restriction permanent.

Separately, the much larger presidential TFR (roughly 10 NM inner core / 30 NM outer, up to about 18,000 feet) activates only when the president is in residence. That one is temporary and tied to his presence.

What this means in practice

  • Low-level / airport traffic (departures and arrivals at Palm Beach International / DJT): Planes are rerouted to avoid the 1 NM zone. This has shifted noise to other neighborhoods and generated local complaints. Before late 2025, aircraft routinely flew closer to or over the general Mar-a-Lago area when the president was not there.

  • High-altitude en-route traffic (cruise altitudes like FL350 / ~35,000 feet): Unaffected by the 1 NM / 2,000 ft restriction. Planes routinely cross southern Florida and the Palm Beach latitude on routes to the Bahamas, the Caribbean, or elsewhere. This is normal.

Regarding the N722BD Learjet pathIts track (Austin → near Naples → right turn east toward the Bahamas) was a standard routing for a flight to North Eleuthera. It was at high altitude (~FL350) when it began the turn and then entered the loss-of-control spiral. The crash site in Greenacres is several miles inland/west of Mar-a-Lago; the plane was never low over the estate. The visual proximity on maps is because many Bahamas-bound routes naturally cross near that latitude in Florida.

Bottom line: High-altitude aircraft flying near the Palm Beach area is normal. Direct low-level overflights of Mar-a-Lago itself are currently prohibited around the clock, independent of whether the president is there. 

N722BD’s key altitudes on the flight that crashed (November 1, 2026):

  • Cruise: Climbed to and flew at approximately FL410 (about 41,000 feet).
  • Near Naples, Florida (~17:35 UTC): Began a descent and leveled off around FL350 (35,000 feet). Tracking data shows it near 35,250 feet just before the upset, with a brief slight climb (reports mention around 35,450 feet in one reconstruction) while the crew requested a climb to 37,000 feet.
  • Final moments: Entered a steep right-hand descending spiral. Descent rates exceeded 30,000 feet per minute (ADS-B vertical rate capped at about −32,640 fpm).
  • Last ADS-B report: Approximately 8,750 feet (around 17:49 UTC). This was the final tracked altitude, not the impact altitude—the aircraft continued descending and struck the ground near Greenacres, Florida.

These figures come from ADS-B tracking data published by Flightradar24 and consistent reports from aviation sources and preliminary accident summaries. Altitudes above the transition level are reported as Flight Levels (standard pressure altitude). 

The aircraft was at high cruise altitude when the loss of control began; it was not low when it passed near the Palm Beach area.

Above roughly 36,000 feet (the tropopause in the standard model), temperature stops dropping and stays nearly constant around −56.5°C in the lower stratosphere.

Important notes for the N722BD flight

  •  .
  • In the ATC audio from N722BD, the crew reported an outside air temperature of about −47°C while dealing with icing and turbulence near 35,000 feet. That is noticeably warmer than standard ISA at that altitude, which is consistent with conditions around convective weather.
  • At these temperatures, clear icing and ice crystal icing are still possible, especially in or near thunderstorms that loft moisture high into the atmosphere.

In short, both altitudes are extremely cold—well below freezing—and capable of supporting icing conditions when moisture is present.

Freezers Hacked, Food Ruined Across Europe

  • At what point will people start wondering why every appliance needs to be connected to the internet, thus offering an open door to hackers?
  • Last month, we saw reports of freezers being hacked in France, along with suspected cyberattacks involving refrigeration systems at U.S. military bases, resulting in food spoilage. Now, the same thing has happened in Europe, in Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg and Estonia. The hackers didn’t just turn the freezers off; they turned them up, making the freezers into ovens, with the result being a great deal of food spoiled.

 Supermarkets in Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg and Estonia were hit Monday by problems with freezers and fridges that apparently were caused by cyberattacks, forcing some to dispose of ruined food.

  • The effort by the Trump Department of Justice (DOJ) to hold two former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials accountable for allegedly lying to Congress about Hunter Biden just hit a brick wall, courtesy of a federal judge who accused federal prosecutors of political “weaponization.”
  • On Monday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Zia Faruqui dismissed the criminal complaint against Nikki Floris and Bradley Benavides, two former senior officials with the FBI who were accused of misleading the House Judiciary Committee in 2023 about what they knew of the bureau’s investigation into Hunter Biden and his infamous laptop.
  • Faruqui ruled that the prosecutors had failed to establish probable cause that the duo had knowingly made false statements to Congress. The judge also blasted the DOJ’s handling of the case, saying the investigation had been rushed and procedural missteps had been made. Boasberg, long criticized as a “Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge,” gave the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) and its UCLA Voting Rights Project allies tightly restricted access to the Trump ’s list of more than 20,000 people federal investigators flagged as likely noncitizens who received mail ballots in California.
