US Postal Service cannot carry out Trump order on mail ballot delivery, judge rules

Flynn).   In May 2020, the Justice Department (under the Trump administration) moved to dismiss the charges. Sullivan did not immediately grant the motion. Instead, he appointed a retired federal judge (John Gleeson) as amicus curiae to argue against dismissal and to address whether Flynn should face contempt charges for perjury related to his earlier guilty pleas. Sullivan scheduled briefing and a hearing. The D.C. Circuit later ordered him to dismiss the case (a panel ruling he petitioned to have reheard en banc). After President Trump pardoned Flynn in November 2020, Sullivan dismissed the case citing the pardon.
