Biden Admin Releases Robust Leasing Schedule For Struggling Green Industry After Issuing Restrictive Oil And Gas Plan

  • The Biden administration unveiled a plan   to hold up to a dozen offshore wind leases over the next several years as the industry struggles to cement itself in the U.S.
  • The Department of the Interior (DOI) announced its five-year schedule for offshore wind leasing, which envisions lease sales for plots in the Atlantic, Pacific, Gulf of Mexico and waters off of American territories. The agency expects to offer four sales in 2024, one each in 2025 and 2026, two in 2027 and four in 2028.
  • The administration attempted to sell three areas in the Gulf of Mexico as offshore wind leases in August 2023, but the sales flopped as only one of the parcels received any bids. The Biden administration has previously touted its goal of having offshore wind supply enough electricity to power 10 million American homes by 2030, but Reuters reported in November 2023 that the lofty target for the industry appears to be firmly out of reach

  •   Mac said Thursday that the average rate on a 30-year loan this week crossed the 7% threshold for the first time this year, jumping from 6.88% to 7.1%. While that is down from a peak of 7.79% in the fall, it remains sharply higher than the pandemic-era lows of just 3%.

Biden Regulator Passes Rule With Massive Implications For Millions Of Workers

  • The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a final rule Tuesday banning noncompete agreements nationwide, affecting millions of Americans.
  • Regulators argue that banning noncompetes will promote competition by giving workers greater ability to switch jobs, increasing innovation and leading to more businesses being created, according to an announcement from the FTC. The FTC estimates that around 18% of U.S. workers, or 30 million people, are covered under a noncompete, with the new rule applying to anyone not in a senior executive role, which is defined as someone who is making more than $151,164 and in a policy-making position.
  • “Noncompete clauses keep wages low, suppress new ideas, and rob the American economy of dynamism, including from the more than 8,500 new startups that would be created a year once noncompetes are banned,” FTC Chair Lina Khan said in the press release. “The FTC’s final rule to ban noncompetes will ensure Americans have the freedom to pursue a new job, start a new business, or bring a new idea to market.”
  • The U.S. Chamber of Commerce announced Tuesday that it would be suing the administration to block the rule change.
  • “Today, three unelected commissioners have unilaterally decided they have the authority to declare what’s a legitimate business decision and what’s not by moving to ban noncompete agreements in all sectors of the economy,” Suzanne Clark, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce said in the announcement. “This decision sets a dangerous precedent for government micromanagement of business and can harm employers, workers, and our economy. The Chamber will sue the FTC to block this unnecessary and unlawful rule and put other agencies on notice that such overreach will not go unchecked.”

  • JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon expressed confidence on Tuesday in a robust US economy backed by strong employment and healthy consumer finances.
  • The US economic boom is “unbelievable,” Dimon said in an interview at an Economic Club of New York event. “Even if we go into recession, the consumer’s still in good shape.”

  • ICE picks them up for federal charges. Evidence in the affidavit includes these illegals “bum rushing” border patrol and identifying that this was preplanned as migrants waited in a group for others to cut the wire before bum rushing Border Patrol, National Guard and Texas State Troopers. Apparently the testimony of those officers wouldn’t have been enough for this Judge.
  • El Paso County Public Defender Kelli Childress defended the illegal aliens. She argued that Texas state troopers had no probable cause to arrest the illegals despite what they witnessed and experienced; saying: “This is nothing more than an attempt to arrest and harass.” Apparently this crazy Judge agreed with her despite witness accounts from the state troopers. The judge said this: “After reviewing the affidavit, I don’t believe that probable cause exists…
  • I don’t believe there’s probable cause for these individuals to continue to be detained for the offense of riot participation.” America is being betrayed from within by judges like this. Absolutely despicable. Links to stories on this for anyone who doubts it: National Desk:

Senate Passes Foreign Aid Package, Bill That Could Ban TikTok

  • The Democratic-controlled Senate voted to pass House Republican Speaker Mike Johnson’s foreign aid supplemental on Tuesday that provides billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, as well as language that could trigger a ban on the social media app TikTok.
  • The legislation also includes measures to put pressure on China and Iran, as well as a provision to force TikTok’s CCP-linked parent company ByteDance to sell the app in roughly nine months to continue operating in the U.S.

  • Devin Nunes, CEO of the Trump Media & Technology Group, is asking House committee leaders to investigate the potential “unlawful manipulation of DJT stock.”
  • In a letter to the committees, Nunes pointed out that DJT has appeared every day since April 2 on Nasdaq’s “Reg SHO threshold list,” which he said is “indicative of unlawful trading activity.”
  • “This is particularly troubling given that ‘naked’ short selling often entails sophisticated market participants profiting at the expense of retail investors,” Nunes wrote in the letter released on Tuesday. “Reports indicate that, as of April 3, 2024, DJT was the single most expensive stock to short in U.S. markets by a significant margin, meaning that brokers have a significant financial incentive to lend non-existent shares.”
  • He also wrote that “data made available to us indicate that just four market participants have been responsible for over 60% of the extraordinary volume of DJT shares traded: Citadel Securities, VIRTU Americas, G1 Execution Services, and Jane Street Capital.”

Donald Trump Vows to ‘Reclaim’ the ‘Once Great Educational Institutions’ in the U.S.
  • Former President Donald Trump vowed to “reclaim” the educational system in the United States from the “radical left” that was responsible for “indoctrinating America’s youth.”
  • In a video posted to Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump revealed that he will establish the “College Accreditation System,” vowing to “fire the radical left accreditors” that have allowed higher institutions in the U.S. to teach Marxist ideology.
  • “For many years, tuition costs at colleges and universities have been exploding and I mean, absolutely exploding, while academics have been obsessed with indoctrinating America’s youth,” Trump said in his video. “The time has come to reclaim our once great educational institutions from the radical left and we will do that. Our secret weapon will be the College Accreditation System. It’s called accreditation for a reason.”
  • In the U.S., colleges, universities, and other programs are accredited by organizations that have been certified for quality by either the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), the United States Department of Education (DoE), or both, according to the CHEA website.
  • Trump continued to accuse the accreditors of having “failed” to “ensure that schools are not ripping off students and taxpayers.”
  • “When I return to the White House, I will fire the radical left accreditors that have allowed our colleges to become dominated by Marxist maniacs and lunatics,” Trump said. “We will then accept applications for new accreditors who will impose real standards on colleges once again, and once and for all.”

FBI Director Issues Warning on ‘Increasingly Concerning’ Terrorist Threat

  • FBI Director Christopher Wray on Tuesday warned that foreign terrorist groups are again looking to attack the United States in an “increasingly concerning” way.
  •  the FBI director said the agency is attempting to prevent an attack on U.S. soil via terrorist groups such as ISIS-K, or Islamic State Khorasan.
  • “Foreign terrorists, including ISIS, al-Qaeda, and their adherents, have renewed calls for attacks against Jewish communities here in the United States and across the West in statements and propaganda,” Mr. Wray said at the event Tuesday. He then made reference to a terrorist attack claimed by ISIS in Moscow, Russia, that left more than 140 people dead.
  • Chinese CyberattacksThe FBI director also made reference to cyberattacks carried out by China, Russia, and North Korea in recent days.
  • The Chinese regime “plays the long game,” he said. “To put it simply, [the Chinese Communist Party] is throwing its whole government at undermining the security and economy of the rule-of-law world,” added the director, noting that the CCP’s hacking program is significantly larger than the U.S.’s and any other country’s cybersecurity efforts.
  •  Drinking Water
  • Several weeks ago, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and national security adviser Jake Sullivan sent a letter to states warning about possible cyberattacks targeting drinking water and sewage systems across the U.S. They made note of recent efforts carried out by Chinese and Iranian hackers.

The hackers demanded a $100,000 ransom, and threatened to release data they claimed to have stolen from the system if their demands were not met, St. Helena officials said.
