Poll: Rising Number of Americans Against Arming Ukraine

  • The portion of Americans against sending additional weapons to Ukraine is on the rise, growing by seven percent since May, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll. 
  • The poll, published   indicates that support for Ukraine is waning, as 46 percent of Americans were in favor of shipping weapons to the country in May, but now only 41 percent would back such an initiative. Conversely, 29 percent of Americans were against sending weapons in May, but that number has surged and now sits at 35 percent. This marks an 11-point swing in the change of public opinion. 
  • There is a break among party lines, as 52 percent of Democrats surveyed continue to support military aid to the embattled nation. However, this is a sharp decline from May, when 61 percent of Democrats were in favor of continued military aid, per Reuters.
  • Conversely, just 39 percent of Republicans backed sending more weapons to the country in May, and that number has dwindled to 35 percent in the latest survey.

The aides said written notification dated Jan. 20 was sent to Congress just hours before Donald Trump took the oath of office.
  • In addition to the $221 million for the Palestinians, the Obama administration also told Congress on Friday it was going ahead with the release of another $6 million in foreign affairs spending, including $4 million for climate change programs and $1.25 million for U.N. organizations, the congressional aides said. The aides and the State Department official weren’t authorized to speak publicly on the matter and demanded anonymity.

The US will send a carrier strike group to the Eastern Mediterranean in support of Israel

  •   Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said Sunday he has ordered the Ford carrier strike group to sail to the Eastern Mediterranean to be ready to assist Israel after the attack by Hamas that has left more than 1,000 dead on both sides. Americans were reported to be among those killed and missing.
  • The USS Gerald R. Ford, the Navy’s newest and most advanced aircraft carrier, and its approximately 5,000 sailors and deck of warplanes will be accompanied by cruisers and destroyers in a show of force that is meant to be ready to respond to anything, from possibly interdicting additional weapons from reaching Hamas and conducting surveillance.

The strike group is led by the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford. On top of the deployment, Austin said the US is increasing its presence of fighter jets in the region. “We have also taken steps to augment US Air Force F-35, F-15, F-16, and A-10 fighter aircraft squadrons in the region,” he said. “The US maintains ready forces globally to further reinforce this deterrence posture if required.”

The Norfolk, Virginia-based carrier strike group was already in the Mediterranean. Last week it was conducting naval exercises with Italy in the Ionian Sea. The carrier is in its first full deployment. (read more)

    In your interview with Gen Flynn, he said that the military would only listen to elected civilian leaders and should not be counted on to respond to what is happening in this country. I noticed that you did not question this in particular since you regularly indicate that you (and other guests) think Trump is the CIC and therefore in charge of the military and that the military is the only way to go according to the posts. Any idea why Gen Flynn seems to be countering this?

    Who is God Almighty?     What is included in knowing the name of God?

Jehovah’s assurance at Psalm 91:14, therefore, applies to such persons: “I shall protect him because he has come to know my name.” The name itself is no magical charm, but the One designated by that name can provide protection for his devoted people. Thus the name represents God himself. That is why the proverb says: “The name of Jehovah is a strong tower. Into it the righteous runs and is given protection.” (Pr 18:10) This is what persons do who cast their burden on Jehovah. (Ps 55:22) Likewise, to love (Ps 5:11), sing praises to (Ps 7:17), call upon (Ge 12:8), give thanks to (1Ch 16:35), swear by (De 6:13), remember (Ps 119:55), fear (Ps 61:5), search for (Ps 83:16), trust (Ps 33:21), exalt (Ps 34:3), and hope in (Ps 52:9) the name is to do these things with reference to Jehovah himself. To speak abusively of God’s name is to blaspheme God.—Le 24:11, 15, 16.
    PLEASE! Think deeply on this! This clearly shows that the only ones truly knowing God’s name are those who are his obedient servants. NOW, answer this; Why did Adam die? Almighty Jehovah God does not change and the same rules will always apply; obey, or die. Why is this so? Easy to answer; because only He knows what is necessary for eternal peace in all of His creation. This is why His spiritual sons who followed Satan in rebellion will also be destroyed along with Satan at the appropriate time.
