New Home Sales Just Suffered Biggest Annual Drop Since Oct 2021, Median Price Tumbled 

  •   new home sales surprised once again – rising 2.3% MoM (dramaticaly better than the 4.4% decline expected). However, that surprise was due to a huge downward revision in November data from a 5.8% surge in new home sales to just 0.7%…

It appears the rebound in mortgage applications and reversal lower in mortgage rates has run out of juice for the new home buyer…

 

Bear in mind that, as we detailed recently, cancellations are running at at higher rate than at the peak of the 2008 financial crisis…

Notably, the median new home price dropped to $442.1K, lowest since August…

We also note that existing home prices are falling faster than new home prices…

Sen. Josh Hawley To Introduce Bill Banning TikTok From US 

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) is introducing legislation to ban social media app TikTok from distribution in the United States. 

  • Hawley announced the bill on Twitter early Jan. 24, saying that the app gives China’s communist regime a means of violating the privacy of Americans, including children.
  • “TikTok is China’s backdoor into Americans’ lives,” Hawley said. “It threatens our children’s privacy as well as their mental health.”

A second instance of Hunter Biden peddling what seem like classified documents? 

  • Did Hunter Biden sell the contents of classified documents found in Joe Biden’s garage to the highest bidder?
  • That’s the hunch of New York Post columnist and ‘Laptop from Hell’ author, Miranda Devine, who threw that out there in a recent column, citing a few things that made her think so.
  • The Daily Wire has a useful summary:

 an email dated April 12, 2014, sent to Hunter Biden’s then-business partner with 22 detailed points with “research” about the situation in Ukraine. The business partner, Devon Archer, was sentenced in 2022 to more than a year in prison after being convicted in a fraud scheme in which Hunter Biden was not implicated.

There are a number of reasons why this particular email drew attention. One is how it is written and the attention to detail. The email discusses such matters as Russia’s “destabilization campaign,” United States sanctions, and United Kingdom energy policy. the classified documents found at Biden’s private academic office, among other unclassified papers, contained U.S. intelligence memos and briefing materials on Iran, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.

Another factor is the timing. One week after the email was sent, Joe Biden, who was vice president at the time, met with Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk. Also around that time, Hunter Biden and Archer were hired to sit on the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings, which is repeatedly named in the email.

The president’s son said he could provide Alcoa, a giant US aluminium firm, with knowledge about the “elite networks” connected to Oleg Deripaska in a proposal from his company Rosemont Seneca, emails on Hunter’s laptop show.

Included in the proposal, was a “list of elites of similar rank in Russia, map of OD’s [Deripaska’s] networks based on frequency of interaction with selected elites and countries.”

  • “The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating President Joe Biden and his family’s foreign and domestic influence peddling schemes,” wrote Chairman Comer. “For over a decade, the Biden family has profited from Joe Biden’s positions as a public official. Your arrangement with Hunter Biden raises serious ethics concerns and calls into question whether the Biden family is again selling access and influence. Despite being a novice artist, Hunter Biden received exorbitant amounts of money selling his artwork, the buyers’ identities remain unknown, and you appear to be the sole record keeper of these lucrative transactions.”

Cameron, 19 attorneys general oppose DHS ‘immigration parole power’ program  

  •  Attorney General Daniel Cameron has joined a 20-state coalition in a lawsuit to stop the Department of Homeland Security from operating a new program which he says would unlawfully use immigration parole power and allow a surge of illegal immigrants to the United States.
  • “Instead of adopting a thorough plan to address the crisis at the border, the Biden Administration has developed a program that would allow hundreds of thousands of immigrants to enter the United States illegally,” Cameron stated. “This policy threatens the safety of our communities, exacerbates the opioid crisis and would place added strain on Kentucky and states across the country.”
  • In their complaint, the attorneys general argue that Homeland Security’s program is unlawful because it does not comply with the limitations outlined by Congress for the use of parole power for immigration. Congress has set clear limitations for this power, determining it may only be used on a “case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit.”
  • The DHS’ new “parole” program would allow up to 360,000 residents from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela to illegally immigrate into the United States every year.
  • The Migration Policy Institution estimates more than 35,000 illegal immigrants reside in the state of Kentucky. Sixty percent of them are uninsured, and 37% have incomes that are below the poverty level.
  • The section of the suit dealing with Kentucky states if the policy is allowed to take effect:
  • “Kentucky will be required to stretch its scarce resources even further under the parole program because it will cause an influx of illegal aliens to be released into the United States, including Kentucky, which increases the burden on the Commonwealth’s ability to provide critical governmental services to its citizens.”
  • Cameron joined the attorneys general from Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming in filing the complaint at U.S. District Court in Victoria, Texas.

Feds adapting AI used to silence ISIS to combat American dissent on vaccines, elections

  • The federal government, working hand-in-hand with universities, private companies and Big Tech, is funneling millions of dollars in taxpayer money to fund an AI censorship program to be used on American citizens.
  • the government’s campaign to fight “misinformation” has expanded to adapt military-grade artificial intelligence once used to silence the Islamic State (ISIS) to quickly identify and censor American dissent on issues like vaccine safety and election integrity, according to grant documents and cyber experts.
  • The National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded several million dollars in grants recently to universities and private firms to develop tools eerily similar to those developed in 2011 by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in its Social Media in Strategic Communication (SMISC) program.
  • DARPA set four specific goals for the program:
  1. “Detect, classify, measure and track the (a) formation, development and spread of ideas and concepts (memes), and (b) purposeful or deceptive messaging and misinformation.
  2. Recognize persuasion campaign structures and influence operations across social media sites and communities.
  3. Identify participants and intent, and measure effects of persuasion campaigns.
  4. Counter messaging of detected adversary influence operations.”

Why the ATF’s Pistol Brace Ban Is Unconstitutional

  • The recent rule change regulating stabilizer braces for AR-15 pistols by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) is unconstitutional. But not for the reasons you may think or the ones that have been widely argued. The National Firearms Act (NFA), which the ATF claims allows for the rule, has been overcome by events and no longer applies to these weapons.
  • First, some background.
  • A stabilizing brace is an accessory for AR-15 pistols that was ostensibly designed to help fire a short-barreled weapon more accurately. The controversy arose due to the NFA, which bans rifles with a barrel shorter than 16 inches. These are known collectively as short-barreled rifles (SBR). AR-15-style pistols definitely have barrels shorter than 16 inches, but since they do not have a stock allowing them to be fired from the shoulder, they are classified as pistols.
  • No problem so far. But the stabilizing braces began to obscure this distinction. At first they simply extended a short distance from the rear of the pistol and had straps that wrapped around the forearm of the shooter, thus stabilizing the weapon. But they eventually extended further to become essentially a collapsible stock which when extended made the AR-15 pistol for all intents and purposes an SBR.
  • The question of whether a federal agency can use their powers to create felonies based on their divination of a citizen’s intent for a future use of an otherwise legal product was never tested in court. It may turn out to be a complete overreach  
  • But there is a more basic flaw in the ATF rationale and it lies in the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in District of Columbia v. Heller, which upheld an individual right to own weapons for any legal use.
  • The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.
  • Justice Antonin Scalia relied on the United States v. Miller ruling from 1939, which upheld the NFA’s regulation of short-barreled weapons stating that protected weapons must bear a “reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a well regulated militia.”
  • Miller concerned a sawed-off shotgun not bearing a relationship to militia use. Scalia noted the individual right was designed so that any citizen could own and bring to service in the militia a weapon suitable for use as an individual soldier. Today that is what protects the AR-15 semi-automatic rifle and related weapons as they are in common use and essentially similar to a service rifle.
  • But the most recent military rifle used by individual soldiers is the M4 carbine, which has a 14.5-inch barrel. Hmm—that makes it a short-barreled rifle. If the military is using SBRs, then the determinations in Miller and Heller that a weapon be in common use and suitable for use in the militia are satisfied. The ATF attempt to regulate them should be overturned and the NFA modified to acknowledge this reality. I’m pretty sure Justice Clarence Thomas already noticed that and is just waiting for the right lawsuit to come the Court’s way.

  • Federal Senior Judge William Shubb issued a scathing order halting enforcement of California’s new law, effective January 1, 2023 authorizing medical boards to discipline doctors, including the loss of medical licenses, for providing “misinformation” on Covid treatment.  Judge Shubb’s order halts enforcement of the law while a separate case brought by 2 groups of doctors challenging the law on First Amendment grounds proceeds in federal court.

The National Archives asked former presidents and vice presidents to check their records for classified materials.

“The responsibility to comply with the PRA does not diminish after the end of an administration,” the letter states. “Therefore, we request that you conduct an assessment of any materials held outside of NARA that relate to the Administration for which you serve as a designated representative under the PRA, to determine whether bodies of materials previously assumed to be personal in nature might inadvertently contain Presidential or Vice Presidential records subject to the PRA, whether classified or unclassified.”

“The Archives sent the letter to representatives for former Presidents Trump, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, and former Vice Presidents Pence, Biden, Dick Cheney, Al Gore and Dan Quayle.” CNN reported.

Woman Pleads GUILTY of Biological Weapons Violations After Sending Ricin to President Trump

    Mr T always claims he can end the Ukie war. Sounds cute, but The Russians are done with the lies, they do not trust anyone in the west; does that includes Mr T? Well, in addition to currently issuing threats, Mr T, during his term, sent Bolton over there to bully Putin, failed to close the bio-labs in Ukie, did not stop the US build-up of the Ukie military. nor did we leave Syria after Russia crushed ISIS (for which Mr T claims credit – Moses was denied entry to the Promised Land for taking credit for a deed he did not perform). Mr T is a great one for sounding off. Just sayin’

    thank you Dave…we must never forget how easily we the people complied…the fear was promoted, the propaganda 24/7 of ” covid 19 is a deadly strain will kill all” I remember when my great POTUS suggested a possible treatment of inexpensive readily available prescriptions drugs, he was ridiculed… remember I do…thank you my great POTUS…and today he is still trying to protect us thank you Sir…I wished I trusted the republican fake party can’t do it…as in once upon a time I was the 3rd generation of democratic women …you know the “doers” ….after barry I knew something was wrong…my great POTUS united us the we the people us of all, faiths, colors, all party’s straight or gay POTUS united us in a love a great love for our country our flag and our Donald I will stand with him all day long for he has proven again and again he stands for us we the people…I’m so proud of him : )
