In the overhead view of the Port of Los Angeles, containers were stacked everywhere. What was largely absent? TRUCKS. California has eviscerated its trucking industry by essentially outlawing owner-operators (that the ports largely relied on), refusing to allow trucks more than 10 years old to be registered, and mandating electric trucks in the not-too-distant future (that don’t exist) so that fleet operators aren’t shouldering the expense to update their fleets. Add in the COVID nonsense and you’ll get the gist of the problem: like everything else going wrong, the Progressive geniuses manufactured it.
