Retail Sales in the US increased by 0.6% on a monthly basis to $720.1 billion in June, the US Census Bureau reported on Thursday. The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) said over the weekend that agencies have terminated more federal contracts worth as much as $2.8 billion.
In a post on social media platform X on July 12, DOGE, a task force established by President Donald Trump in January, said that “over the last week, agencies terminated 230 wasteful contracts,” resulting in savings of $407 million.
That includes a contract from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a “Mexico sustainable landscapes consultant” and a Treasury Department contract for “mentoring, evaluation, learning specialist services in Haiti,” according to the DOGE post. The post included what appears to be screenshots of the programs’ descriptions.
Earlier this month, DOGE’s website released an update that the task force has saved approximately $190 billion, which it says amounts to around $1,180 per taxpayer. So far, the Department of Health and Human Services, General Services Administration, Education Department, Office of Personnel Management, and Department of Labor have initiated the most cuts, according to the site.
Meanwhile, DOGE’s database shows that around 11,700 contracts have been terminated across all federal agencies, with an estimated saving of around $44 billion. At the same time, around 15,500 federal grants have been slashed, it shows, worth some $44 billion.

France has launched a criminal investigation into Elon Musk’s social media platform X over allegations that the company manipulates its algorithm to engage in “foreign interference.”
The investigators are also examining whether the social media platform has been extracting data from users in a fraudulent manner.
Magistrate Laure Beccuau announced the investigation on Friday.
In January, the cybercrime unit of the Paris prosecutor’s office received two formal complaints, submitted respectively by a member of the French parliament and a senior official at a French public institution, Beccuau said, adding that both complaints alleged that X’s algorithm had been exploited for the purpose of foreign interference.
The Paris prosecutor’s office confirmed in February that it was examining these complaints, before announcing on Friday that it had opened the investigation “based on verifications, input from French researchers, and information provided by various public institutions.”
Laurent Buanec, CEO of X France, stated on the platform in January that X “has strict, clear, and public rules aimed at protecting the platform from hate speech,” adding that it “fights disinformation” and that its algorithm “is designed to avoid recommending hateful content.”

On Monday, the president met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House and announced new measures against the Russian Federation if they continue their bellicose ways.

On Thursday, U.S. District Court Judge Joseph Laplante announced that he would issue a preliminary injunction against President Trump’s executive order ending birthright citizenship for illegals and narrow the class covered to children only.
Laplante, who was nominated by George W. Bush, also said he would grant a 7-day stay of order for “court efficiency.”
As The Straits Times reported, Laplante made the ruling after the ACLU and other illegal alien activists begged him to grant class action status to a lawsuit they filed seeking to represent any babies whose citizenship status would be threatened by the implementation of Trump’s directive.
Laplante agreed to certify the plaintiffs as a class representing the babies and said the decision to issue a nationwide injunction was “not a close call.”
“That’s irreparable harm, citizenship alone,” he said. “It is the greatest privilege that exists in the world.”
This ruling came after the U.S. Supreme Court on June 27 restricted the ability of judges to block Trump’s policies using nationwide injunctions.
In a 6–3 decision, the Court sided with the Trump administration, ruling that federal district courts lack the constitutional or statutory authority to issue so-called ‘universal injunctions’ — sweeping orders that block government policies nationwide, often at the request of left-wing advocacy groups.
Under the Supreme Court’s ruling, Trump’s executive order would take effect on July 27.
Trump goes on to explain in the executive order why the 14th Amendment has always excluded infants born individuals illegally present in the United States.

In fact, there is a slight deflationary aspect on CPI data from imported durable goods. The lower price of arriving imported durable goods is effectively putting downward pressure on US consumer prices.
tariffs do not impact the final price of goods to USA consumers; there are just too many factors, too many elements within the Total Cost of Goods (TCG) within supply chain. According to the memo, investigators closely examined footage of Epstein’s Manhattan prison cell between around 10:40pm on Aug. 9, 2019, when Epstein was locked in his cell, and around 6:30am the next day, when he was found unresponsive.
The footage, which was reviewed by Axios but couldn’t be verified independently, showed no one entering the area, the administration said.
“The FBI enhanced the relevant footage by increasing its contrast, balancing the color, and improving its sharpness for greater clarity and viewability,” the memo says.
Investigators found “no incriminating ‘client list’ ” of Epstein’s, “no credible evidence … that Epstein blackmailed prominent individuals,” and no “evidence that could predicate an investigation against uncharged third parties,” the memo adds.

South Africa will face 30 percent tariffs, the same rate announced on Liberation Day.
Kazakhstan and Malaysia will both face 25 percent rates, Trump said. Kazakhstan was looking at a 27 percent tariff on Liberation Day and Malaysia was set to be hit with a 24 percent tariff.
The administration appears to be fixing tariff rates in five percentage point steps, rounding up or down from the Liberation Day tariffs.
Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) is demanding that the Commerce Department’s inspector general investigate vacancies at National Weather Service offices and whether they increased the death toll in recent flash flooding in Texas.
Schumer wrote in a Monday letter to Roderick Anderson, the Commerce Department’s acting inspector general, urging him to immediately “open an investigation into the scope, breadth, and ramifications of whether staffing shortages at key local National Weather Service (NWS) stations contributed to the catastrophic loss of life and property during the deadly flooding.”
He noted that The New York Times reported that key forecasting and coordination positions at the San Antonio and San Angelo offices of the NWS were vacant at the time of the Friday storm.

In order for the EU to maintain their socialistic form of government, they need to continue the economic benefits from one-way tariffs that exploits the American consumer market.
