When he became president, Jackson was determined to rid the US of its national debt. After all, debt enslaves you to your creditors.
Jackson knew that being debt-free was essential to independence. This outlook resonated with many Americans back then.
With that in mind, Jackson attacked the institutions and powerful people who promoted and enabled the federal debt. This included the banking elites and the Second Bank of the United States, the country’s central bank at the time and precursor to today’s insidious Federal Reserve system.
Jackson couldn’t squeeze the American people with a federal income tax to repay the debt. It didn’t exist at the time and would have been unconstitutional.
He also couldn’t simply print currency to pay off the debt. Perpetuating such an insane fraud—which the Fed does on a massive scale today—likely never entered his mind.
Instead, Jackson had to rely on tax revenue from other sources, mainly import tariffs and excise taxes, to pay down the debt. He also drastically cut federal spending and frequently vetoed spending bills.
Jackson’s determination worked. By January 1835, the US was debt-free for the first time.
Unfortunately, it didn’t last much more than a year. After that, the US would never again be debt-free—not even close.

Ukraine has officially confirmed receiving a draft peace plan from the US. The country’s leader, Vladimir Zelensky, has expressed hope he will be able to discuss the proposal with US President Donald Trump “in the coming days.”

Internet services provider Cloudflare says that a fault in its bot detection system triggered an outage that took down around 20% of webpages, including several crypto platforms. Cloudflare said in a post-mortem statement on Tuesday that a “feature file” used by its Bot Management System to fight off cyberattacks grew beyond its normal limit, leading to a failure in Cloudflare’s software.
The company initially suspected the incident was caused by a hyper-scale Distributed Denial of Service attack, but confirmed there was no cyberattack or malicious activity.
The Department of Energy (DOE) announced Tuesday that it will loan Constellation Energy around $1 billion to restart one of Three Mile Island’s reactors in Pennsylvania.
Unit 1 at Three Mile Island was shut down in 2019 but never fully decommissioned. Constellation Energy is now working to restart the reactor in 2027 under its new name, the “Crane Clean Energy Center.” The loan will be issued through the DOE’s Loan Programs Office (LPO), which Energy Secretary Chris Wright said last week will largely finance nuclear projects under the Trump administration.
“One of the biggest challenges American people [have] faced over the last several years has been the rising price of electricity,” Wright told reporters Tuesday. “We want to bring as much net addition of dispatchable, reliable electricity onto the grid to stop these price rises in electricity and increase American capacity to generate reliable electricity, so we can reshore manufacturing in our country, and we can stay ahead in the AI race.”
Wright noted the reactor was shuttered prematurely six years ago and that bringing Crane back online is expected to add nearly a gigawatt of “new firm, reliable generation” to the grid, backed by a Constellation “parent guarantee” to protect taxpayers. The DOE said the reactor will be operational in 2027 and require only 600 to 700 workers to restart.

Among the 17 accounts uncovered by our source were ones on YouTube, Snapchat, Venmo, Zelle, GroupMe, Discord, Google Play, Quizlet, Chess.com and Quora.
Yet the source found reams of information that shows Crooks “was not simply some unknowable lone actor … He left a digital trail of violent threats, extremist ideology and admiration for mass violence. He spoke openly of political assassination, posted under his real name and was even flagged by other users who mentioned law enforcement in their replies. Despite this, his account remained active for more than five years — and was only removed the day after the shooting.

According to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office in Maryland, on November 7, James Bowman III, 40, was arrested for domestic-related assault after he allegedly punched a woman in the face and bit her hand.
The woman should have felt some measure of relief/safety knowing her alleged attacker was behind bars.
Instead, officials in the Blue State of Maryland released Bowman from jail with no bail requirement under the condition that he doesn’t abuse the woman he allegedly attacked again.
An hour later, according to officials, he then returned to the victim’s house and allegedly assaulted the woman again, this time while she was holding a baby.

Biden-appointed U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Cummings announced Wednesday that he plans to grant bond to hundreds of illegal aliens detained during ICE’s “Operation Midway Blitz,” a crucial crackdown on criminal migrants and repeat border jumpers.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Cummings, installed by the failed Biden-Harris regime, ruled Wednesday that these invaders could walk free on a paltry $1,500 bond as long as they lack a prior criminal rap sheet or deportation order.
This outrageous decision reeks of judicial activism, undermining law enforcement and rewarding those who flout our borders.
The ruling stems from a leftist lawsuit claiming ICE violated a 2022 consent decree in the Castañon Nava case, which handcuffs agents from making warrantless arrests without jumping through bureaucratic hoops like proving “probable cause” of illegal status and flight risk.
Cummings, presiding in the Northern District of Illinois, ordered the DOJ to cough up a list by November 19 of the 615 detainees still in custody who might qualify as “class members” under this agreement.

In the latest twist from the trove of Jeffrey Epstein’s emails released by House Democrats, a 2016 message from the convicted pedophile to disgraced author Michael Wolff appears to allege that Hillary Clinton had a sexual affair with former White House Deputy Counsel Vince Foster.
The exchange began with Wolff asking Epstein for a “thumb nail” summary on “Nussbaum/foster,” prompting Epstein’s response implying an illicit affair between Hillary and Foster.
The email, dated May 25, 2016, cryptically states: “nussbaum white house counsel. . hillary doing naughties with vince.” This appears to reference Bernard Nussbaum, White House Counsel under President Bill Clinton, and Vince Foster, who died under suspicious circumstances in 1993.
Foster, a longtime Clinton ally from Arkansas, was found dead on July 20, 1993, in Fort Marcy Park, Virginia, with a gunshot wound to the head.

House Speaker Mike Johnson on Wednesday night said he would bring a petition to release files related to Jeffrey Epstein to a floor vote next week, now that the bipartisan discharge petition has enough signatures to force action on the matter.
Arizona Democratic Rep. Adelita Grijalva became the final lawmaker to sign the petition after she was sworn into the lower chamber earlier Wednesday. Several Republicans have also signed it, including South Carolina Rep. Nancy Mace.
The petition itself will not force the release of the files, but is merely a vote that will force lawmakers to go on the record with their position on the release. A discharge petition forces a bill or resolution to be brought directly to the House floor for consideration, even if it’s previously been held up in the committee process.
Johnson told reporters that Republicans will bring the matter up for a formal vote after the House returns from the weekend, and that Democrats prevented them from voting on it earlier in the day, The Hill reported.

Federal Housing regulator Bill Pulte referred Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell to the Justice Department for criminal prosecution over mortgage fraud.
Pulte is alleging that Swalwell, a Democrat Congressman representing a district in California, took out millions of dollars worth of mortgage loans based on his declaring his primary residence as Washington, DC.
A public Deed of Trust for Swalwell’s DC home at 209 S Street NE, dated April 18, 2022, confirms the property is designated as his “principal residence” as a condition of the loan, Joel Gilbert reported.
Pulte is alleging that Swalwell made misleading statements during the purchase and refinance of the DC property.
The FHFA’s Inspector General is also investigating Swalwell’s mortgage fraud.
