New Study: Natural CO2 Emissions Nearly Six Times Higher Than Man-Made Sources

  • According to a new study, the claim that increases in atmospheric CO2 are driven exclusively by humans relies on a made-up, disparate accounting model, with the residence time for natural emissions three to four years (which is consistent with actual observations), but CO2 from human sources is claimed to have a residence time of 50 to over 100 years. [emphasis, links added]
  • The 15 to 30 times longer residence time for human emissions is an imaginary conceptualization that is wholly inconsistent with (1) bomb tests (1963) and (2) seasonal CO2 variations found in real-world observations.
  • Human emissions account for under 5% of the total from all sources, natural and anthropogenic [man-made].
  • Nature’s sinks do not decide which CO2 to absorb, depending on the source. Absorption is instead proportional to the source.
  • Consequently, Dr. Harde insists that a “comprehensive analysis and reproduction of the atmospheric CO2 evolution requires … [treating] all emissions in a consistent manner.”
  • When the imaginary-world 50-100+ years residence time for anthropogenic CO2 accounting method is not used, and instead natural emissions and human emissions are treated as equal (both with a residence time under 10 years), the attribution for the CO2 increase falls to as little as 3.5%, with the upper limit 35%.

  • Similarly, if the Ben Bernanke Fed was overly complacent about building strains in the U.S. financial system in the first half of 2008, the same might be said today of Jerome Powell’s Fed. Not only does the Powell Fed largely ignore the financial system risks of its own making. It keeps adding to financial market strains with the most aggressive interest rate hiking cycle in decades. It also does so by withdrawing around $80 billion in market liquidity a month through its quantitative tightening policy. The Fed’s shift from a large buyer of U.S. Treasuries to one that does not roll over its maturing Treasury bonds has been one of the principal factors in the recent spike in the all-important 10-year Treasury bond yield to 5 percent.

  • A man who identifies as female has been indicted on 14 felony counts after reportedly threatening to rape girls in public restrooms over “transphobia,” as well as commit a school shooting and kill children “on behalf” of the transgender community.
  • Alexia Willie, previously named Jason Lee Willie, was arrested on August 14 in Perry County, Illinois, after the FBI intercepted a livestream on social media, in which the trans individual was making a number of threats, according to multiple reports.

Possible Cyberattack Takes Down Fire and Police Phone Lines in Israel
  • A possible cyberattack knocked out phone lines to police and fire departments in Israel for over an hour on Monday night.
  • The Bezeq Electric company issued a statement that said a “malfunction occurred in all Bezeq lines” during standard “night work.” The nature of the malfunction was not elaborated upon.
  • The phone outage affected Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency response service, plus police and fire departments, and the Hatzalah emergency medical service. Service was restored after a little over an hour.
  • Hackers linked to Hamas have been pecking away at Israel’s online infrastructure for almost a decade. Cybersecurity experts say the sophistication of these attacks increased considerably in 2023, including the deployment of a sophisticated malware called “SysJoker” by a group called WildCard.
  • An earlier and much cruder version of SysJoker was deployed against Israeli schools by Hamas hackers in 2021. The 2023 version was extensively rewritten, becoming an order of magnitude more effective, which suggests either Hamas hackers have greatly improved their skills, or they are receiving outside support from more advanced threat actors.

  • The Municipal Water Authority in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, has reported their water system was hacked by an Iranian-backed cyber group on Saturday.
  • Mathew Mottes, the chairman of the Municipal Water Authority of Aliquippa, stated that the cyber group called Cyber Av3ngers hacked one of their booster stations.
  • Penn Live reported the cyber hackers were able to “shut down a pump on a supply line that provides drinking water from the Aliquippa Municipal Water Authority’s treatment plant to Raccoon and Potter townships in Beaver County.”

Trump hints at expanded role for the military within the US. A legacy law gives him few guardrails 

  •   Campaigning in Iowa this year, Donald Trump said he was prevented during his presidency from using the military to quell violence in primarily Democratic cities and states.
  • Trump has not spelled out precisely how he might use the military during a second term, although he and his advisers have suggested they would have wide latitude to call up units. While deploying the military regularly within the country’s borders would be a departure from tradition, the former president already has signaled an aggressive agenda if he wins, from mass deportations to travel bans imposed on certain Muslim-majority countries.
  • A law first crafted in the nation’s infancy would give Trump as commander in chief almost unfettered power to do so, military and legal experts said in a series of interviews.
  • The Insurrection Act allows presidents to call on reserve or active-duty military units to respond to unrest in the states, an authority that is not reviewable by the courts. One of its few guardrails merely requires the president to request that the participants disperse.
  • Congress passed the act in 1792, just four years after the Constitution was ratified. Nunn said it’s an amalgamation of different statutes enacted between then and the 1870s, a time when there was little in the way of local law enforcement.
  • “It is a law that in many ways was created for a country that doesn’t exist anymore,” he said.
  • It also is one of the most substantial exceptions to the Posse Comitatus Act, which generally prohibits using the military for law enforcement purposes.
  • Attempts to invoke the Insurrection Act and use the military for domestic policing would likely elicit pushback from the Pentagon, where the new chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is Gen. Charles Q. Brown. He was one of the eight members of the Joint Chiefs who signed a memo to military personnel in the aftermath of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. The memo emphasized the oaths they took and called the events of that day, which were intended to stop certification of Democrat Joe Biden’s victory over Trump, “sedition and insurrection.”
  • During the Civil Rights era, Presidents Johnson, John F. Kennedy and Dwight Eisenhower used the law to protect activists and students desegregating schools. Eisenhower sent the 101st Airborne to Little Rock, Arkansas, to protect Black students integrating Central High School after that state’s governor activated the National Guard to keep the students out.
  • George H.W. Bush was the last president to use the Insurrection Act, a response to riots in Los Angeles in 1992 after the acquittal of the white police officers who beat Black motorist Rodney King in an incident that was videotaped.
