Electric buses: another bankrupt green boondoggle

  • Electric buses are just like electric passenger vehicles: they’re not ready for prime time, only more so. Proterra buses are a case in point. Cities that wasted money on them found they had far less range then advertised. They commonly couldn’t complete even short, flat routes specifically designed for them. The enormous weight of their batteries cracked frames, and getting parts from the factory was virtually impossible.   • President Biden gave Proterra at least $10 million, and lauded it as the future: “when you start making a thousand buses a year, you’re going to need more room for customers.”  That makes as little sense as anything Biden is saying these days. And as with everything else, the Mummified Meat Puppet Administration is incapable of learning from its mistakes: 
  • The Biden administration is dispersing nearly another billion dollars in federal grants for school districts nationwide to decarbonize their bus fleets, despite recent inspector general findings casting doubt on the program.The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in a joint announcement with the White House, said it had selected 67 applicants to receive approximately $965 million to purchase electric and low-emission school buses. The funding means the agency has now awarded nearly $2 billion for thousands of new buses across hundreds of school districts under its Clean School Bus Program, which was created in late 2021.
  • However, the EPA Office of Inspector General in late December published the findings of an audit which determined that the Clean School Bus Program was largely dependent on utility companies’ ability to increase power supplies. Further, the program may also face significant delays, according to the inspector general, without construction of additional charging stations.Entities interviewed by the inspector general’s office specifically expressed concern about the ability of utility providers to bring power lines and transformers to school districts with electric buses. While some power providers have experience with electric bus infrastructure, they said they had never built such infrastructure at scale.

Federal Court Throws Wrench Into Biden Admin’s War On Appliances

  • A federal appeals court shot down the Biden administration’s efforts to repeal existing regulations on dishwashers and clothes washers on Monday.
  • The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals issued an opinion in a legal battle between eleven red states and the federal government over the Department of Energy’s (DOE) efforts to impose energy and water efficiency standards for dishwashers and clothes washers that asserted it “is unclear that DOE has statutory authority to regulate water use in dishwashers and clothes washers,” according to the opinion’s text. The Biden administration has attempted to push new standards for both appliances since coming into office in 2021 as part of a wider push to nudge the market toward more energy efficient appliances, which in some cases are generally  less effective than their other models, the court asserted in its opinion.
  • The court’s opinion also points out that there is “ample evidence” to support that DOE’s dishwasher standards actually accomplish the opposite of their intent, stating that “they make Americans use more energy and more water for the simple reason that purportedly ‘energy efficient’ appliances do not work.”
  • Beyond clothes washers and dishwashers, the Biden DOE has also sought to impose energy efficiency regulations for items like water heaters, furnaces and pool pump motors. The administration has also spent hundreds of millions of dollars on helping state and municipal governments pursue building codes

Judge Loretta Preska Orders Epstein Island Images To Be Redacted After Court Accidentally Releases Them

  • A federal judge issued an order Monday to redact newly released images of deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, his partner Ghislaine Maxwell and young girls and women on his infamous Caribbean island.
  • U.S. District Court Judge Loretta Preska of the Southern District of New York ordered for a collection of photos from Epstein’s Little St. James Island to be redacted after they were disclosed in a court filing unsealed Monday.

 Sarah Ransome sent e-mails to a reporter claiming her friend, Jen, had sex with Donald Trump at Epstein’s New York home. She has retracted this and other statements.

“She confided in me about her casual ‘friendship’ with Donald. Mr. Trump definitely seemed to have a thing for her and she told me how he kept going on about how he liked her ‘pert nipples,’” Ransome wrote in a 2016 e-mail. “I also know she had sexual relations with Trump at Jeffery’s NY mansion on regular occasions,” she added.  

Ransome walked back the allegations against Trump in an Oct. 23, 2016 e-mail with New York Post columnist Maureen Callahan writing, “I would like to retract everything I have said to you and walk away from this,” according to the filing.  In the fall of 2016, Ransome also suggested to the New York Post that she had sex tapes of half a dozen prominent people including Bill Clinton and Trump—but couldn’t provide the tapes when asked. Ransome told reporter Connie Bruck of The New Yorker she had invented the tapes to draw attention to Epstein’s behavior, and to make him believe that she had evidence that would come out if he harmed her. It should be noted that Ransome’s attorney was David Boies.

Bradley Edwards wrote in his book Relentless Pursuit he noticed red flags with Boies that gave him pause including that Boies had a relationship with Epstein. In October of 2017, The New Yorker and the New York Times were investigating accusations of sexual abuse against Harvey Weinstein who was Boies’s client at that time.

Boies’s firm hired Black Cube, a private intelligence company run by former Israeli military operatives, to disrupt the reporting. In the process, Black Cube operatives impersonated a source and assumed other false identities to gather information on the reporters. Boies said that he regretted not supervising Black Cube more closely. The New York Times severed its ties with Boies after he was linked to the clandestine effort to spy on their reporters and prevent the publication of a damaging story about Weinstein. “We never contemplated that the law firm would contract with an intelligence firm to conduct a secret spying operation aimed at our reporting and our reporters,” the newspaper said in a statement.

It’s also interesting that Ransome’s claims about Trump were at the time Wikileaks was releasing the Podesta E-mails exposing Pizzagate in 2016 and before that year’s presidential Election Day. It also should be emphasized that Edwards — who represented dozens of victims — said none of the witnesses he interviewed claimed there was inappropriate sexual behavior by Trump nor was he ever around when minors were present. REPORT: Jeffrey Epstein’s Sex Slave Turned Accomplice ‘Missing’ Following Release of Documents

  • Nadia Marcinko, the elusive former associate of the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, has vanished from her Upper East Side home following the release of court documents related to Epstein’s scandalous activities, according to The New York Post’s recent report.
  • Nadia Marcinko, also known as Nada Marcinkova, is a former commercial pilot and Gulfstream Girl. Marcinko is a Slovakian-born pilot, flight instructor, and the CEO of Aviloop, an aviation website. She has three rating certificates, including various Gulfstream business jets.
  • Marcinko was brought to the United States from Slovakia by Epstein when she was fifteen years old.
  • Jeffrey Epstein had reportedly referred to Marcinko as his “sex slave.” She had spent years by his side and even traveled on his private plane, known as “The Lolita Express,” which was notorious for transporting young girls.
  • “Ms. Marcinkova was specifically identified by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida as a “potential co-conspirator of Epstein” in the non-prosecution agreement it executed with Mr. Epstein as part of his guilty plea. She has relevant information because she observed the recruitment of underage girls for sex and, in fact, participated in sex acts with minors. She was also on numerous flights with Defendant (in contradiction to Defendant’s testimony),” according to court document.
  • Marcinko was granted immunity from prosecution in 2008 as part of Epstein’s non-prosecution agreement with Florida authorities. Despite the controversy surrounding her involvement with Epstein, she remained loyal to him and visited him numerous times when he was in jail.
  • In recent days, Marcinko has been absent from her longtime residence on the Upper East Side of New York City. According to a neighborhood source, she has not been seen for the past three days, coinciding with the release of the court documents.

U.S. mayors say they will take on migrants, but want five times more federal funding

  • The United States Conference of Mayors sent a letter in November to Congress saying that the federal government needs to spend far more than it has to cover the cost of the border crisis
  • Denver City Councilmember Flo Alvidrez claimed earlier this month that her city is doing more than its share of carrying the burden when it comes to taking care of migrants.
  • Denver Mayor Mike Johnston said that the city has been the destination of choice in Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s campaign to ship migrants from the southern border to sanctuary cities. Johnston said the cheapest bus ticket from El Paso to the other targeted cities was Denver.
  • Mayors across the U.S. have stated they are willing to take on more migrants but it would come with a very steep price tag.
  • The United States Conference of Mayors sent a letter in November to Congress saying that the federal government needs to spend far more than it has to cover the cost of the border crisis.
  • The Shelter and Service Program was funded at $363.8 million in fiscal year 2023.

  • The motion was filed in the Superior Court of Fulton County on behalf of defendant Michael Roman, a former Trump campaign official who was hit with counts 1, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19 in Fani Willis’ RICO case. The motion seeks to have the charges against Michael Roman dismissed and for Fani Willis, Nathan Wade and everyone in the DA’s office to be disqualified from the RICO case against Trump.
  • The filing claims Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor hired to go after Trump, paid for luxury vacations he took with Fani Willis to Napa Valley and a cruise in the Caribbean – and used money from Fulton County to pay for their out-of-town escapades.
  • “County records show that Wade, who has played a prominent role in the election interference case, has been paid nearly $654,000 in legal fees since January 2022. The DA authorizes his compensation.” the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
  • Nathan Wade was brought in as a special prosecutor by Fani Willis in November 2021. He met with Biden’s White House Counsel at least twice in 2022 leading up to Trump’s indictment – once in May 2022 and another time in November 2022.
