2. The Fed has two big jobs, and is failing at one of them
- The Federal Reserve has been assigned a task by Congress that is easy to describe, yet fiendishly difficult to achieve. It’s known as the dual mandate: to achieve both price stability and maximum employment.
- Why it matters: The Fed is in a new world in which it faces more explicit tradeoffs. That will make achieving assigned goals harder — and maybe impossible.
- The big picture: The formal, legal language of the mandate comes from the Federal Reserve Reform Act of 1977, which says the central bank must steer credit and money supply “so as to promote effectively the goals of maximum employment, stable prices, and moderate long-term interest rates.”
3. Axios-Ipsos poll: The Fed knowledge gap
Most Americans are unaware of both goals of the Federal Reserve’s dual mandate: stable prices and maximum employment, according to an Axios-Ipsos poll.
- Why it matters: It’s not surprising that public understanding of the Fed is so low. Most people aren’t economists and have lives. But these are the Fed’s biggest and most difficult jobs — and the poll shows how little Americans understand or appreciate them.
- By the numbers: Fewer than 1 in 10 respondents in our poll knew the Fed is supposed to maximize employment, and only about a third knew it’s expected to stabilize prices.
- The biggest response in both cases was “don’t know” — but about four in 10 answered, incorrectly, that it’s false to say the Fed is tasked with maximizing employment.
- The big picture: The Fed’s approval ratings are low right now, with just 28% saying it does an excellent or good job — down from 38% in March 2021.

- Republicans lead Democrats with key demographic groups on a generic congressional ballot poll conducted by NPR, PBS NewsHour, and Marist.
- The recent poll showed that Republicans have a three-point lead on a generic ballot. Of the 1,162 registered voters who participated in the survey, 47 percent said they would pick the unnamed Republican when asked which candidate they would support if the election was held “today.”
- In comparison, only 44 percent said they would vote for the unnamed Democrat. Three percent said other, and seven percent said they were unsure whom to vote for. The poll marks the first time since August 2014 that the Republicans have led on the congressional ballot. That same year the Republicans won control of the House and the Senate.

- Many of these “mules,” or ballot traffickers, she continued, would go on routes “repeatedly, day after day.”
- “One of our sort of top performers, if you will, in one 24-hour period went to 27 different drop boxes across six counties and five different nonprofit organizations in one 24-hour period,” she said.
- “But this is a — this is organized crime, and that’s what we need to get our arms around,” she said.
- While she said they have to be cautious in how they describe the nonprofit organizations involved, Engelbrecht noted that “all of them were far left of center,” adding that they will release the data publicly in the coming weeks.

Now, Dave, perhaps you might quibble about what the Proclamation to the People of the 1793 Coinage Act said or did not say…. Here’s what I recall my research into that Proclamation basically said:
“Those of you that have Specie [Gold or Silver] and want a circulating currency, then please bring your Specie to the [US] Mint, and for a fee, we will fashion coins out of that Specie, that you can take, and spend into circulation. [X] amount of Grains of Silver = $1 [US] Dollar, and one-fifteenth of that amount in GOLD = $1 [US] Dollar.”
Honestly, I don’t know how many grains of Silver the Proclamation posted, HOWEVER, I do remember that 1/15th of that amount of grains in Silver, if in was in Gold would = $1 [US] Dollar. I hope you agree that that is basically the Proclamation of the 1793 Coinage Act.
Ok, so let’s break this down, because I see a few things here:
FIRST OFF: Government is calling out to SOMETHING OTHER THAN ITSELF to come and Interact with Them to Create the money to circulate, and it’s *NOT* DEMANDING that Specie Holders Submit. This is not a 1933 situation where FDR is confiscating Gold and Silver from the People. It’s the Government making an offer to Specie Holders. No one is Forcing the Specie Holders to do this. In this way, it’s the SPECIE HOLDERS that would be initiating the Interaction with the Government, that is ready to serve them.
Now, how is the Federal Reserve, in this way following the SPIRIT of the 1793 Coinage Act, if not the LETTER of it?
Ok…. The Federal Reserve offers to LEND credit to the Government, as “the lender of last resort,” when the other banks won’t do so for whatever reason.
It’s initiating the Contact, as something SEPERATE from the GOVERNMENT, so that neither GOVERNMENT nor the FED, on their own, can create any currency that can be spent out by anyone… (a “check-and-balance” if you will) and it does this because the GOVERNMENT posted its Bonds “Does anyone want to buy our Bonds?” Even as the “Lender of Last Resort” the FED has the ability to say “NO.” to the Government.
Now you and I know this. No matter how Rothschild/Paysuer/Rockefeller-designed the Fed was when it came from Jekyll Island, GA(?) It was CONGRESS that was the Final author of that ACT.
Argue with me all you like, Dave, but The Fed was, and IS… a complete Chimera: 100% a PRIVATE ENTITY, separate from the Government, and 100% a Government Agency,
Just like JESUS to many Believers was, is, and will continue being, 100% MAN, and 100% GOD at the Same Exact time. “As Above, so below.”
And “The Fed” is doing the EARTHLY (some or MANY now, might say “Unconstitutional” or even “SATANIC”) VERSION of Jesus’ “Loaves and Fishes” miracle, that fed 5,000 hungry men.
Prime Example of that? Ok, The Fed allowing Member banks to submit their (purportedly busted) Commercial Notes, off their books, and onto the Fed’s Books, and being able to Borrow (to Lend out) up to NINE TIMES the amount of the Face Value of those Notes Submitted. I think it’s one of the Facets of “elastic currency” (And it’s something on a structural basis, I don’t like, and neither I think, do you, Dave.)
Another example, Dave, that, I think might be closer to the Letter of the 1793 Coinage Act, (but not really that much, I think you would say) is when they have to exchange their electronic credit for Bank Notes. THEY HAVE TO GO to the US MINT’s Bureau of Engraving and Printing to get the Bank Notes. Not to any other Countries Mint. OURS. (But I’m sure there are many listeners out there saying, “Uhm….Chy-na”)
However, Dave, It’s up to you to tell ME whether or not the BEP charges the Fed a fee for the job done, or whether Fed deducts from what’s “owed” them by Uncle Sam…but, can you agree with me that this part MIGHT be as close as the Fed gets to the “letter” of the 1793 Coinage Act?
You know what’s funny… the setup today, does NOT prevent the Treasury Mint, or the BEP, from creating and circulating (in another country, ANOTHER Country’s Bank notes and coins! This is not necessarily should be a point of contention, so don’t take it as an argument point from me. I’m just putting this out there: but let’s say the Golfos and Zetas have a turf war down (as they usually do) in State of Chihuahua, Mexico, and, for whatever reason it takes out the Mexican Mint’s ability to press out the Centavos or Pesos. If Memory Serves of my research, THERE IS NO LAW that PREVENTS OUR MINT from accepting a request from Mexican President Juan Felipe de Calderon to press a few batches of Pesos for them to circulate in their country. All that WE ask is that they pay the Fee we post. And why wouldn’t we do so? We wouldn’t want them calling on CHINA to help them, now would we? (I know Trump would want to help Mexico in that regard, because of MCA…. Biden on the Other hand? Ehh…………) OUR FED RSV cannot intervene and say to our Mint “Thou shall not do that….”
I dare you to prove to me that somehow The Fed CAN stop our Mint from making Pesos If Juan Felipe needed (and is willing to pay us) to do so…. (BUT THAT’S NOT necessarily important, right now.)
The reason why this letter to you, (among all the other letters I wrote, obviously without response yet)
is that we can turn the tables on the Federal Reserve, and make IT be the “permanent Debtor” in the Situation between the Fed and the Gov’t. And in the process
