On August 14, the BPU announced a $100 Residential Universal Bill Credit to help lower bills in September and October. This is a way to use taxes to disguise the cost of utility bills, but New Jerseyans are still shouldering these costs.
When announcing this relief measure, Governor Murphy didn’t accept responsibility for higher prices. Instead, he blamed PJM Interconnection, a grid operator servicing New Jersey and 12 other states, for creating a “cost crisis.” Earlier this summer, he urged residents to set their air conditioners to 76-78 degrees Fahrenheit and delay appliance usage until 8 p.m. But Garden Staters aren’t buying what Murphy is selling.

For context, the average American household uses about 10,800 kWh annually.

Ms. Cook may argue that the President can’t remove her for wrongdoing she committed before becoming a Governor, and in any case hasn’t been proven. If the President gets away with firing her, then the “for cause” protections could become toothless.
The Justice Department may argue that “for cause” restrictions on the President’s removal power of Governors violate the separation of powers because such officials exercise executive power. This is the argument that the Administration has used to remove members of other so-called independent agencies.

A hacker allegedly exploited Anthropic, the fast-growing AI startup behind the popular Claude chatbot, to orchestrate what authorities describe as an “unprecedented” cybercrime campaign targeting nearly 20 companies, according to a report released this week
The report, published by Anthropic and obtained by NBC News, details how the hacker manipulated Claude to pinpoint companies vulnerable to cyberattacks. Claude then generated malicious code to pilfer sensitive data and cataloged information that could be used for extortion, even drafting the threatening communications sent to the targeted firms.
The stolen data included Social Security numbers, bank details and patients’ sensitive medical information. The hacker also took files related to sensitive defense information regulated by the U.S. State Department, known as International Traffic in Arms Regulations.
It’s not clear how many of the companies paid or how much money the hacker made, but the extortion demands ranged from around $75,000 to more than $500,000, the report said.

After five far-left Northern Virginia school districts refused to stop forcing “transgender” policies on their students, the U.S. Department of Education is proceeding with suspending or terminating federal funding.
The Education Department announced Tuesday that the five Washington, D.C.-suburb districts — Alexandria City, Arlington County, Fairfax County, Loudoun County, and Prince William County — would be placed on “high-risk status,” meaning they will be forced to pay education expenses up front, and the federal government will only reimburse them.
More than $50 million in grant funding, including formula, discretionary, and impact aid grants, will be under the reimbursement status, meaning the districts will have to prove that federal dollars are being spent consistently with federal law in order to get federal funding.
The move comes after all five districts were found in violation of Title IX for maintaining their “transgender” policies allowing students to use the restrooms and locker rooms of the opposite sex based on “gender identity,” forcing students and teachers to use “preferred pronouns” at the threat of disciplinary action, and other far-left gender theory policies.
After the Education Department attempted to enter a resolution agreement with the districts to stop their endangerment of children, each of them rejected the agreement in order to adhere to the warped ideology.
